Menu in bottom-left corner is accessible by right-clicking anywhere on desktop.
My desktop and geobars are set such that I am always left with desktop space to click on at the bottom of the screen, allowing for easy access to the right-click menu.
Colorful icons on geobars and in right-click menu are from a set called “textures”
I have yet to finalize this desktop, particularly my Rainlendar.. I like the skin, but I feel it doesn’t blend very well with the wallpaper. But then again, I never get around to finalizing my desktop, so meh.
PLOG 01-01: Gathering Materials
[this is a repost from enhancedan.blogspot.com]
Obtaining the required components seems to pose a problem in Singapore.
I have yet to confirm my design, but I have been scouting to see what’s available.
So far, I have found
- 1 Metal Halide Bulb: Philips HPI-T, 400w, 4300K, 32000 Lumens, 65 CRI – From Sinter Electrical (#03-05 Sim Lim Tower)
- 1 400w Ballast, Igniter, Condenser and Bulb Holder – Sinter Electrical
- Materials for casing (Wood, Acrylic) – Home Fix: The DIY Store (Marina Square branch)
- LCD Panel: 7-8″ can be found in Sim Lim Tower / Square, but I should be getting a second hand 15″
- Electrical Equipment (Wires, switches etc) can be easily obtained from Sim Lim Tower
The last major components, that nobody seems to have a clue as to where to get, are the Optics components (Fresnel Lens and Projection Lens). If anyone happens to know where to get these, please let me know.
Currently the cost outlook seems promising, Bulb + Ballast + Igniter + Condenser + Holder for $124, LCD Panel ~$100 (I haven’t bothered checking up on the smaller components, want to focus on getting the major ones first). However, I’m looking to get a better bulb, 4300K and 65 CRI for 32000 Lumens is just borderline.
My initial budget was $300, but I think I’ll have to bump it to $450 (hopefully my Dad is willing to agree to this), which is more realistic since the typical US budget for DIY Projectors is US$300~600.
Tomorrow’s Sunday, so I’ll have to wait a day to continue my hunting.
PLOG 01-00: A Singaporean DIY Projector
[this is a repost from enhancedan.blogspot.com]
DIY Projectors – make your own LCD Projector starting at one quarter the cost of a commercial projector. Something so relatively easy that many people around the world, from the U.S. to Australia to Indonesia, are doing it.
Since I’ve got some spare time on my hands, I figured I give it a shot here in Singapore. I’ll be logging my progress along the way, and likely will also do a complete guide at the end, so that other people stuck here in Singapore may also pick up the way of DIY Projectors.
(As of now, I can’t seem to find any Singaporean who has successfully DIY Projector. My search was based completely on google, so I may be wrong. Please do let me know if you have successfully done one in Singapore.)
Note: I am using Lumenlab (www.lumenlab.com) and diyAudio as my primary sources (www.diyaudio.com).
Right then, first update shall be coming shortly.
Hello World! [an obligatory introduction post]
[this is a repost from enhancedan.blogspot.com]
the Enhance Logs is a combination of project logs (PLOGs) and insights *cough*rants*cough* of the Enhance.
…I can’t be bothered to do this right now.
Yeah whatever, hope you gain something from coming here and reading my junk, blah blah blah, here ends the introduction post. May update it later on. I should.
