In celebration of the upcoming release (and sneak peek in a few hours!).

p.s. Looking for casual players to play through this. I play (on the average) 1 hour a day during weekdays, up to 5 hours on weekends.

Finally got a desk for my new apartment (woot no more ghetto pc setup on boxes). Had to reinstall Windows when I first returned because I think I deleted some system hardware info before going back to Singapore at the start of summer (an attempt to use my drive back home, which failed because I gave up halfway as it was taking too long). Yea anyway, so I needed to do some quick modding, and this is the result.

Have yet to find a proper winamp skin that matches, but this will do for now. Also, I plan to upgrade to a 21.6″ monitor next week, so I’ll have to update it to fit the new screen.

Oh, I’m not playing RO right now (although I used to play it quite awhile back), but I wanted to use a video game wallpaper for a change, and I found this.

5 Things I Noticed about NDP 07

with 5 comments

I missed most of the earlier parts, but anyway.

  1. (this one is from a friend) “NATHAN’S GOT A PIMPED UP RIDE. CHECK THE RIMS.”
  2. the lead skater guy tripped just as the tv commentator said “they were chosen for their amazing skills” (note that I pity the guy, and am not laughing at him)
  3. President didn’t sing national anthem. =(
  4. Singapore has the world’s largest floating platform. Yea, they repeated this like 103839372 times.
  5. We also scored the record for most kites flying at the same time (or something like that). Good job!

I apologize if these are all rather… negative, but let’s just say that there are too many positive things to list. Negative things tend to be more obvious.

update bonus: here’s something from the same friend that brought you point 1.

“this year’s song has like
san francisco…
cairo….
the song is just trying to say kit chan is rich and she’s been to many places in the world “

Lunia – Action Arcade MMORPG: First Impressions

with one comment

Lunia

Just installed and played half an hour of this new “Action Arcade MMORPG”, and I’m rather impressed.

The interface is reasonably sleek and intuitive, graphics and visual effects are good, and the soundtrack is pretty epic.

Gameplay-wise, it utilizes instancing to allow you to play through a proper storyline, with the option of just joining random people or creating your own private stage to play with yourself and/or your party. Yep, seems like there isn’t much running around to find stuff to grind, and no pointless leveling up. You’ve got real goals to accomplish, just like in any other action RPG.

It lives up to the “Action Arcade” part of the genre, providing fast-paced action and that satisfying feeling of beating stuff up quick and hard. This may be a great game to just pop in during work breaks to relieve stress. Awesome.

The client, being in beta, does unfortunately have its fair share of quirks. A few that I’ve noticed so far is that during the dialog scenes it sometimes progresses through too fast, has some rather obvious translation errors, and the stage background music seems come in at the wrong time, not suiting the mood of the cutscene and sometimes overlapping with the next track.

Overall, this is definitely something I’ll be spending at least another few hours on. It’s like Ragnarok Battle Offline but with the MMO aspect.
