NWN2: Encounter at the Willow Inn, and Bandits
Aye so after leaving West Harbor, our first stop was the Weeping Willow Inn. Outside, we see a dwarf picking a fight with 3 humans. We tried to break it up, but the dwarf wanted to fight. So we fought too, then stepped inside for a drink and some chatter. He introduced himself as Khelgar Ironfist, and he’s on his way to Neverwinter to become a monk because monks do nothing but fight (or so he thinks).
Halfway through our conversation, the guys from back at West Harbor showed up, in search of the “Kalach-cha”. Apparently that’s the name of the silver thing we got, I think. We make quick work of them and clear them from the inn, gaining some coin from a grateful wife in the process.
Continuing on our quest, Khelgar wants to join us and we accept. We also stopped by a cave just to kill some lizardlings and steal their stuff. Oh, and I finally found out how to call out my animal companion, so now we have my trusty hog, MeteorMeat, following us around.
Moving along.. finally! Some daylight and proper greens! I was beginning to get sick of the dark swamp setting. First thing we come across is our old friend Galen the merchant, and it looks like his bodyguards have turned on him. Well, being the upholders of justice we naturally protect Galen and kill them. Galen gives his thanks, and moves on. Next up is yet another fight where the good guy (or gal) is outnumbered, so we stepped in again. Khelgar doesn’t quite like tieflings, and I wonder if he realizes what Loki is.
We then came to Fort Locke. We picked up a few quests here, mostly about dealing with the bandits. Another thing noteworthy is that patrols have been going missing, including the previous commander, and so we’re tasked to investigate. We decided to first go take care of the bandit’s camp, and head there. As we leave the fort, we see the same female elf as before (when we entered the ruins back at West Harbor) watching us. But who cares about stalkers, we have bandits to take care of!
Along the way, a small group of bandits try to extort us, but we talk them out of it. Curse our diplomacy skills! We actually really wanted to kill them. Anyway, onto the bandit camp. It was a fun battle with quite a few enemies, but before long we cleared the outside. Moving inside, we fought more bandits until we got to the final room, where we were caught off guard and got pwned (sorry, no screenshot of that).
We decided that we’ll come back tomorrow to kill them all, as it was getting late.
